A BODY PSYCHOTHERAPY CENTRE FOR BRISTOL!

Progress update:

We've now been running for well over a year and feel very well established. The online booking system is working wonderfully with very few problems, the rooms are now all in operation and are much appreciated by those who use them and we've even managed to file our first set of accounts on time and without too much stress! And our programme of CPD events is going really well. All that's missing is our new website, which is taking far more effort and learning to implement than we imagined! Still coming soon...(1-Aug-11)

We have now added some pictures of our therapy rooms to this site to tide us over until the full site is launched. Just navigate to 'Our Rooms'.(13-Nov-10)

I can't believe that it's now so ridiculously long since I updated this site. The centre opened in April 2010 and we have been incredibly busy ever since. We now have more than 20 therapist registered with us to use our rooms and we are busy every day of the week. We held our first CPD event last month with Michael Soth speaking on '80 years of Body Psychotherapy' and it was packed out with attendees. In fact it was so successfully that we have decided to repeat his talk early next year.(12-Nov-10)

We are now on course to meeting our initial financial targets and are forming the 'community of therapists' that we envisaged from the start. We have many body psychotherapists and body-oriented counsellors working with us and we now would like to further expand the range of people here. We would welcome applications from more movement therapists, voice workers, integrative massage therapists, shiatsu practioners, kinesiologists and others to use our beautiful rooms. (7-Nov-10)

This update is well overdue - but we have been soooo busy! We signed the lease for the premises before Christmas (actually on Christmas Eve!) and since have been overwhelmed with all the stuff that has needed to happen. We have been busy decorating the rooms as well as engaging builders to construct and fit a WC on the ground floor. We have also been sorting out our business, appointing an accountant, getting a computer and printer, chair and desk and so on. We are just now fitting the carpets and hoping the building work will be finished by the end of this week (by the 6th March). We shall see! Watch this space for the appearance of an all-singing, all-dancing website shortly! (27-Feb-10)

The meeting has now happened and was very successfull and well-attended. About 12 of us met at Emmaus House (and about the same number sent apologies) and were all enthusiastic about the project and the building. Since more people have seen the building and have all loved it, and thought the rooms are much larger than the video suggests.

Because of the enthusiasm expressed, Janine and I have applied for planning permission for change of use. Approval should take about 6-8 weeks. In the meantime we are meeting with Co-operative enterprise advisors and are still looking for some more people who wish to share the excitement and opportunities of this project with us!

Please get in touch - we are waiting to hear your ideas and see how we can work together on making this a vibrant and active centre for therapeutic change in Bristol. (27-Sep-09)

Now things seem to be really moving! We have identified premises (update: this refers to Fulcrum House) and we are now in contact with many more interested therapists, in excess of 30. So please do come to the meeting on Saturday - it looks like it's going to be a very exciting and seminal event! (10-Sep-09)

We now have planning permission granted and are negotiating the lease! It all feels very exhilarating and very scary! We have had a lot of additional interest in the centre and it feels like it could become a very vibrant and enlivening place to be involved with. We are now hoping to get in there and start decorating and refurbishing the premises before Christmas. It all depends on the negotiations and how fast we can reach a resolution on the final draft. (25-Nov-09)

So far we have found at least five therapists who are interested in joining us. As well as people who are interested in using the facilities we also need a few brave souls who wish to become partners with us in this venture, giving of their time, skills and financial aid (but not necessarily all three). Come in now while there is still time to steer us in your desired direction! (30-Jul-09)
